This is what happens...

When I get sick.

I am pretty sure both of these were finished within 36 hours of purchase. I normally don't like apple juice that much, but when I am sick, nothing feels better.

Jon and I finished finals for spring term this past week, and can't believe how quickly our classes went by. We start summer term on Monday- wow! We are enjoying a lazy weekend with no worries about homework.

Hope all of you enjoy your first day of Summer tomorrow!

Obsessions

I just had to share all of the wonderful things I've discovered on the web:

1. dafont.com
download fonts for free. I cannot stop myself, it is too much fun. I am still proud of my Harry Potter font and I promise I will find a way to use it someday.

2. amazon.com.... I know, "duh"
but really, I bought a CHI hair straightener for $50 (normally $190). It heats up faster than I can brush my teeth. Really, it doesn't get any better than that.
ps they still have them here for $71.54

3. thepioneerwoman.com/cooking
This lady gives step by step instructions for yummy food, with pictures! As someone who doesn't know what it is supposed to look like when you scald milk, or knead the dough until its smooth- I am in loooove with her instructions and recipes.

4. seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com
a spoof on Mormon married/mom blogs. She is cute, she is perfect, she loves her husband, and she gives her children strange and unique names. She is totally offensive. And I love it.
(thank you Courtney for introducing me!)

5. http://www.shabbyapple.com/
They design dresses with more fabric, and more cover. And they make them cute. I think I would like to buy them all, but right now my favorite one is this one.

Hope you all enjoy these as much as I do!

Recent Accomplishments

Quick Update for my dear family and friends:
-last week we hosted a pot-luck get together with the people I work with, at Bridal Veil Falls. Despite the gusts of wind and kind of yucky weather, I would call it a success. We made hamburgers and s'mores.
Here is a picture of how strong the river was!:

And of course Jon had to climb the falls:

- Jon and I had our last full week of school. Monday is our last day, and then finals. Hard to believe isn't it?

-We got Willy, our car, fixed. We replaced his timing belt, accelerator belt, lots of other random belts and something to do with the A/C. I am sure Jon could tell you in more detail. After doing all of that and paying Jon's tuition, were just proud to say we still have our head above water.

-Jon and I are tentatively planning the best, most awesome road trip ever. More information to come later...

-Last night, after a hard week of finishing up big assignments and exams, we put lots of blankets on the floor- popped in a movie, and ate some pizza. It was just what we needed.

-Jon and I still like each other. A lot.

Love you all!

ps congratulations Kaitlin for graduating! We wish we could be there!!

Finally.

I have changed my last name to Van Wickle.

Yes, it has finally happened. Do not ask me why it took so long, California is different than Utah. But, what matters is I did it. Now I just have to wait a couple of weeks for my new social security card.

And then I just have to change.. my credit and debit card, my drivers license, school records and anything else that comes up. But no worries, it is offical now.

Ironically... Jon's last name on his social security card is VanWickle. No space. We might have to get that changed as well, so we really can share a last name :)

Date Night

Jon and I do our best to have a date night every weekend, preferably Friday. I like this because it usually means I don't have to cook, and it is a good tradition to help strengthen our marriage.
Tonight we went out to dinner at Brick Oven, a pizza and pasta place only a short walk away. We then decided to make truffles, since we had never made them before, and walked to the store to get some supplies. (lovely weather = walking everywhere possible). We soon realized that the truffles were going to need to chill, so we watched a documentary while they did.

I highly recommend what we watched, it was called Shakespeare Behind Bars. It was about prison inmates that go through an educational program in which they learn and perform a Shakespeare play. Many of these men have committed heinous crimes, but when you watch them you realize they are so easy to relate to, and similar to yourself or people you know. It was very eye opening. If you have net flix, you can watch it online.

After it was over we coated our delectable treats. They vary with: cocoa powder, powdered sugar, sprinkles and coconut. We get to try them tomorrow- hope they're as good as they look!

Weekends and Cupcakes

Jon and I had a delightful three day weekend. It was a well needed break from work and school. In the morning we went on a run up Bridal Veil Falls, it was such a beautiful drive I couldn't resist taking pictures! It was also the perfect day for a run.
Later that same day we headed to the park to try out our new Frisbee. We put out a blanket, Jon fell asleep and I read for class. It couldn't have been more perfect.
It was the best way to spend the day- outside! If we ever told you Utah was ugly or terrible we take it back! This has to be the prettiest I have ever seen it.

Today we decided to try out the Sweet Tooth Bakery in Provo, since I had seen it advertised on some of my favorite blogs. We came right before closing and they gave us a free cupcake, so I figured I should advertise them too! What beautifully constructed and yummy treats. As some of you know, Jon and I enjoy making candy together, so we are always interested in checking out bakery's and candy stores. (as well as for their deliciousness!)
Jon is about to go home teaching, and I am going to start dinner. We are already half way through spring term- can you believe it? It is definitely flying by! When it comes down to it, we don't mind not having too long of a break from school, because the job opportunities really aren't that tempting. So what do we have to loose? We are having a great time!
