There is no place like home

Here are some more pictures from our vacation! We have a lot of favorites, but here are some of our highlights.

Tonight we went to dinner at Ruth's Chris steak house for an early birthday. They had delicious food!

I tried my luck at surfing. Jon's brother Jake helped me.. I caught two waves, but knelt instead of standing up. But we had fun!

The mystery spot in Santa Cruz was entertaining, we also went to the boardwalk while we were down there.

San Francisco was fantastic, we loved the city, fishermans warf, and ghiradelli square. Here we are with the golden gate bridge:

I feel as though Jon and I have two homes now... in Goleta California and our little apartment in Provo Utah. But it sure has been nice to be with our families, we like them!

Good News

We are taking a little break after our nearly 4 mile trek to fishermans warf and ghiradelli square.

I thought I would take the time to share some little bits of good news.

First, Jon is getting A's in his 2 classes from this term! And I am getting an A in abnormal psychology! We are very happy.

Also, remember voting for t-shirt designs? Well they choose this one and asked me to make it navy blue (otherwise it looks too much like a UVU shirt, I agree). Who knows, maybe I was the only one who submitted anything, but either way, it is fun to have my design on some shirts! Thanks for voting guys!

Seattle, Portland and San Fran

This vacation has been so wonderful!

Here are some quick highlights

Sunday: dinner with the Toborgs and getting to see my friend Rachelle from BYU-Idaho and meeting her awesome amily

Monday: Pikes place and the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction museum, having Kaitlin as an amazing tour guide, yummy lunch and cupcakes, the locks and awesome views of Seattle.

Tuesday: going to the Vista house with Bethany and Chandler, checking out chiropractic west with Brandon, and getting to spend time with my favorite cousin and her family

Wednesday: a not so fun 11 hour drive, but a super cute hotel and a yummy dinner at the cheesecake factory made everything ok again.

This is our small, but lovely hotel room, right by union square:

We are so excited for tomorrow! Pictures are on facebook if you would like to see what we've been up to.

Boise and Seattle

Welcome to Idaho:

We stayed with Michelle and family who live on Sugarberry drive, which I just think is so cute.

Here are three good reasons to visit Idaho:

We had a wonderful stay with Michelle and David, I am so glad I have such nice family. I also really enojyed driving through Idaho, it is a beautiful place. I find it very peaceful.

I will also note that we have been eating way better than we have at home! Lasagna, home made bread and french toast, home made raspberry jam, and other yummy things. Life is good on the road when you have family to stay with.

Our drive to Seattle was easy going, we made great time and ended up getting into town a lot sooner than we expected. Our drive into Seattle was beautiful:

We went ahead and met up with Kaitlin in the city, she showed us around the adorable Seattle Pacific campus. We walked by the canal, walked over the Freemont bridge, and checkout the notorious statue of Lenin and a big troll that lives under the bridge. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me, but we look forward to meeting up with Kaitling again on Monday!

So far it has been a fantastic trip. It is nice to have a lazy Sunday, and have loved staying with the Toborgs.

Life is good in Seattle on a Sunday.

Finals are over!

Ahhhh, finals are over, and we are feeling great. What a huge relief, this was a particularly tough semester for me. Luckily Jon had an easier schedule than usual, so we could have a little balance in our lives. We finished our finals today and are just so happy. This will be the first real break we have had since Christmas. And we are ready for it!
We leave for our adventure tomorrow, heading to Boise for the night. I am looking forward to seeing many family members on this trip, and making some fantastic memories.

I will make a sincere effort to blog about our different experiences.

Jon and I are going to buy some new music for our long road trips between destinations. Current music choices are:
-Regina Spektor's new album
-Ingrid Michaelson's "be ok" album (not so new, but we don't have it yet)
-the 500 days of summer soundtrack
-if there is new snowpatrol or deathcab, then we want it!

any other recommendations before we leave?

We have also checked out 4 books from the library, so that will help us stay covered.

It is rainy as we pack for a sunny vacation. Life is good.

Sweet Things

Joy Van Wickle makes the best care packages I have ever received. Trader Joe goodies, delightful and random toys, and nice notes to keep our spirits up. Jon and I are like little kids when we get these boxes full of goodness. Just check out our last package:

Amazing! Thank you so much mom! Your packages are seriously the B-E-S-T. It always makes the rest of the semester or term seem do-able.

Last night I decided to try a new recipe I had been looking at. Chocolate lava cakes...

Out of the oven:

Ready to eat with REAL whipped cream:

They were a hit. So yummy and really easy.
You can find the recipe here.

We had a very sweet weekend.

Only 2 more weeks left of the term! This is our last full week of classes, and finals are next week. We are gearing up for our vacation and finalizing our plans. Things are looking good, and we are enjoying the ride.
